The word Gratitude gets thrown around a lot, so much so, it loses its meaning.
And it really bothers me when people tell me to plaster over my lived experience with toxic positivity.
I want answers.
I want direction.
I want something that actually works, dammit.
So developing a way to understand gratitude and use it to improve my life in real, tangible ways (think money solutions here) was absolutely key.
I want to impart to you that it actually is one of the most powerful tools you have to rewire your brain and bring future possibilities into your current reality.
Let’s get into it...
The Science Behind Gratitude + Manifestation
Your brain is a prediction machine. It’s constantly looking for evidence to confirm what it already believes is true about the world, about your circumstances, and especially about you.
So when you practice feeling gratitude for things you already believe you have in abundance, you activate your brain’s reward and motivation centers. You train it to seek more of those experiences.
And that’s the key:
Manifestation isn’t about “hoping” something will happen.
It’s about priming your brain to believe it already is
And letting your emotions match that belief.
This is why combining thoughts with feelings is the secret sauce.
The thought is the spark.
The feeling is the signal that tells your brain, “This is real. Let’s go find more of this.”
Start With What You Can Already Believe
Manifestation falls flat when you’re trying to convince yourself of something your nervous system doesn’t believe yet. So instead of trying to be grateful for a million dollars when your bank account’s overdrafted, start with what feels true.
I once heard coach Jessie DaSilva explain this beautifully:
Is there an abundance of bricks on the street where you live?
An abundance of traffic at 5 PM?
An abundance of leaves on the trees outside your window?
If your brain can see it, it can believe it.
Take It Further: Make It Mean More
This is where it gets fun and powerful.
What if those bricks weren’t just bricks?
What if every leaf on every tree, and every one that’s fallen into the yard, the gutter, the sidewalk, were $20 bills?
Or $50s. Or hundreds.
All just waiting to be scooped up.
That’s what practicing gratitude for abundance really is:
Taking the evidence that already exists
and giving it a new meaning that aligns with the future you want to experience.
You don’t have to fake it.
You’re building it inside your body and your brain before it shows up in your bank account.
You’re not just “thinking positively.”
You’re rehearsing your future into the present.
This is how you train your brain to believe in what’s possible.
This is how you build trust in yourself.
This is how you manifest intentionally from sufficiency, not scarcity.
Go find something you already have an abundance of.
Something neutral. Something obvious. Something you can feel.
And feel what it’s like to have so much of that thing,
you don’t even have to think about not having it.
It’s already in your life.
That’s the trick.
That’s the shift.
That’s the portal.
