Why I Became a Money Mindset Coach (and What Photography Had to Do with It)

For more than a decade, I have photographed women. Not models. Not influencers. Just real, everyday women who hadn’t been in front of a camera in years. Women who quietly erased themselves from family photos. Who hid behind the lens, waiting to feel “ready” or worthy enough to be seen.

Mostly it’s their weight. Sometimes their age. Sometimes they don’t feel like they have the “right” wardrobe or live an Instagramable-enough life to be photographed. And I know exactly what that felt like, because I used to hide from the camera too… AND I’ve been a professional photographer my entire adult life.

But here’s the thing. Our children, our grandchildren, our future generations want to see us. Not some polished version of us who hit a goal weight or got everything “together.” They want to remember the person who held the family together. The one who nurtured, labored, planned, loved. The one who mattered.

But. I 100% get why it’s hard to be photographed carelessly and not looking like a goddamned bombshell.
So I made it my job to create an experience where women could stop hiding. Where vulnerability wasn’t something to fix. It was something to hold gently.

My favorite moment during a shoot isn’t when the light is perfect or the pose is “just right.” It’s when that woman in front of me would glance at the back of my camera and pause. I can see it. The shift. The flicker of recognition.
The moment she starts to remember her own magnetism. Her beauty. Her enoughness.

Sometimes, for the first time ever.

There’s a moment in many shoots when something drops. Like a veil between who she thought she had to be and who she actually is (and she realizes she likes her true self more). And when that happens, it’s like watching someone come back home to herself. Not in a performative way. Just in a quiet, powerful return to truth. It’s truly glorious.

That’s what I love most about photography. That’s what I still love. I realized the camera is just a tool to get to that moment. The real transformation has always been about reconnecting women to their own magnificence.

That, right there, is what led me to become a money mindset coach.

Because the same self-doubt that keeps a woman out of her family photos? It’s the same shame that keeps her undercharging, under-earning, and believing she has to do everything perfectly before she gets to feel powerful, supported, or wealthy.

I don’t teach women how to budget.

I teach them how to stop abandoning themselves.

I still create gorgeous portraits of women, and through money mindset coaching, I help them see their worth long before the evidence shows up in their bank account.
