Primary Blog/Reframe your rest as sacred

If you believe natural rhythms to be sacred like I do, I invite you to consider these thoughts. 

It's the season for hibernation & everyone I know has been going balls to the wall, tired as hell, and feeling the need for hibernation now... right in the midst of the massive holiday ramp-up. It feels like shit, it feels like even though there are tons to do, to plan, to execute, if I don't stop and rest I will implode. 


Even that thought is an additional stressor. Hibernation is a real thing that animals do, naturally. Massive holiday ramp-ups are a human, societal construct. Hey, guess what? 


We humans ARE animals. 


Rest is vital. 


Rest is necessary. 


AND it might feel like shit. AND lying down while occupying your brain with something educational, newsworthy, or productive is not actually resting your brain. Yeah, it's taken me forever to figure that out. 


Consider this, resting when you have the flu is absolutely the one thing you can do AND IT FEELS LIKE SHIT. 


Your animal body is forced to stop and suffer through fevered naps, fevered wakefulness, and body & mind aching while staring at the ceiling because watching TV, listening to podcasts, music, or audiobooks is TOO DAMN MUCH for your healing self.


Loving yourself and doing self-care IS exactly this. 


REST. 


Rest your body. Rest your brain.


You know the baby needs to nap on schedule so the whole day doesn't turn to shit. AND the baby doesn't want to nap, the baby hates napping.


With SACRED LOVE do this for your own beautiful, soft, animal body. Let's all ramp down on all of the massive Holiday ridiculousness too.
