Primary Blog/Stop Pretending to Be Rich: Why Honesty Creates Real Wealth

Stop Pretending to Be Rich. Start Being Honest, You’ll Get There Faster.

There’s a strange lie women are taught to believe about money:

If you look like you’re doing well, somehow it’ll all work out.

If you seem successful, maybe you’ll actually become successful.

If you act like you’re already “there,” you’ll trick yourself (and everyone else) into believing it.

So we stay quiet about how much we’re actually making.

We dodge conversations about debt.

We buy things that signal wealth even when it puts us deeper into the hole.

We perform affluence and tell ourselves it’s “aspirational.”

Quiet luxury, minimal gold jewelry, the tote bag with the subtle logo, the house that’s just barely affordable.

We’re not allowed to be loud about money. But we are expected to look the part.

But here’s the thing:

Pretending to be rich doesn’t make you rich.

It keeps you stuck.

If You’re Secretly Underearning, Overcharging Won’t Save You

You might be running a business. You might have a good job.

But if you’ve got more going out than coming in and you’re too ashamed to say it out loud that shame is costing you way more than dollars.

If you can’t stop swiping the card,

If your debt feels unmanageable,

If you keep telling yourself you’ll deal with it once you hit the next milestone…

You’re not broken. You’re just exhausted from trying to look like you’re okay.

Real Wealth Starts with Radical Honesty

This isn’t about budgeting apps or spreadsheets.

This is about being honest with yourself about:

  • What it would feel like to stop performing and just be supported
  • Why you keep reaching for a dopamine hit instead of building a long-term win
  • What you actually want (not just what’s “practical” or “reasonable”)
  • Where your money is actually going

This is nervous system work.

This is identity work.

This is healing work.

And yes it’s also self-love.

Self-Love Looks Like

  • Creating your own safety not waiting for someone else to give you permission
  • Wanting more for yourself without needing to justify it
  • Letting your money be quiet because you feel secure, not because you’re hiding
  • Choosing stability over spectacle
  • Pulling your energy back from proving you belong
  • Getting your dopamine from growth, not consumption
  • What it would feel like to stop performing and just be supported

You’re Not Behind. You’re Just Done Pretending.

You don’t have to have it all figured out.

You don’t have to be perfectly healed.

You don’t have to earn a certain amount before you’re “allowed” to get support.

But you do have to get honest.

This is what I help women do every day inside my coaching work:

Unravel the conditioning.

Tell the truth.

Feel safe with money.

Create more. Hold more. Enjoy more.

You don’t have to be perfect to change your money story.

You just have to stop lying to yourself about what’s actually going on.

And then love yourself enough to do something about it.
