Why Wanting More Doesn’t Make You Selfish

Let’s just say it out loud: a lot of women walk around feeling guilty for wanting more.

More money.

More time.

More freedom.

More rest.

More pleasure.

More life.

Not because those things are bad, but because we’ve been trained to believe we have to earn the right to want them.

We tell ourselves things like:

“I should just be grateful for what I have.”

“Other people have it harder, so who am I to want more?”

“Once I fix myself, then maybe I’ll deserve it.”

Here’s the truth no one handed us:

Wanting more doesn’t make you selfish. It makes you honest.

This isn’t about greed. It’s about liberation.

There’s a huge difference between wanting more because you're trying to fill an empty hole

and wanting more because you're finally done shrinking.

Women are conditioned to believe that the morally correct thing is to stay small.

To be low-maintenance. To not ask for too much.

To be a "good steward" of money, which somehow always translates into less for yourself and more for everyone else.

But what if being a good woman and being a powerful, prosperous human don’t have to be in conflict?

You don’t have to be perfect to be prosperous.

You don’t need to have all your shit together.

You don’t need to have zero debt.

You don’t need to meditate at sunrise, meal prep, volunteer on weekends, or wear a linen dress to Target.

You’re allowed to want more just because you do.

And you’re allowed to create more without apologizing for it, performing goodness, or making it easier for other people to digest.

So what does it actually look like to step into more?

It starts with getting honest.

It continues with giving yourself permission.

And eventually, it becomes a practice. One that can completely change how you think about money, desire, and what you believe you’re capable of.
