Primary Blog/Your Brain Thinks Your Current Money Situation Is Safer Than Change

One of the hardest things to realize about changing your money situation is this:

Your brain may currently experience your existing financial stress as safer than change.

I know. Sucks, right?

Even when you consciously want more money, more stability, more ease, more freedom, another part of you may still be deeply attached to the emotional patterns you already know how to survive inside of.

Because familiar feels survivable.

Your nervous system has practice there.

Practice overworking.

Practice worrying.

Practice monitoring.

Practice figuring out how to “make it work.”

Practice recovering from disappointment.

Practice living in almost enough.

Unfortunately, the brain often prioritizes familiarity before expansion.

This is why people can genuinely desire change while continuing to recreate versions of the same financial experiences over and over again.

And if you’ve caught yourself thinking, “what the actual F is wrong with me?!” you’re definitely not alone.

There is literally nothing wrong with you. Your brain works just fine. Your nervous system is trying to maintain emotional safety through familiar patterns.

That can look like:

* overworking as emotional regulation

* productivity becoming tied to self-worth

* constantly staying busy to avoid uncertainty

* feast/famine income cycles

* undercharging so you feel safer being chosen

* procrastinating on visibility

* avoiding looking at numbers

* making progress, then unconsciously pulling back

* creating emergencies to generate motivation

* staying financially “almost okay”

Many women are trying to create wealth while still running survival strategies underneath everything.

That’s exhausting.

And honestly, it makes sense.

Your brain learns through repetition.

If stress, urgency, over-functioning, and emotional labor have been connected to survival for years, your nervous system can start associating those states with competence, identity, usefulness, and safety.

Peace can start to feel unfamiliar.

Ease can feel suspicious.

Receiving support can feel vulnerable.

Enoughness can feel temporary.

So when people ask:

“Why do I keep doing this?”

“Why can’t I just change?”

I think the more useful question becomes:

How do I help my nervous system experience change as safe enough to stay with?

Because this work is not just about making more money.

It’s about becoming the version of you who can emotionally hold more money, more support, more visibility, more ease, more responsibility, and more possibility without immediately snapping back into familiar stress patterns.

That requires identity work.

That requires nervous system work.

That requires compassion instead of self-attack.

Most importantly, it requires awareness.

You cannot interrupt patterns you cannot see.

That’s a huge part of why I created these workshops.

To help you recognize the patterns running underneath your life so you can start working with yourself differently.

Break Up With Broke

This workshop focuses on practical pattern recognition and interruption.

We uncover:

hidden money beliefs

emotional survival strategies

nervous system responses around money

productivity conditioning

scarcity loops

self-worth patterns tied to achievement and overworking

Because once you can see the pattern clearly, you can stop unconsciously living inside it.

My next Break Up With Broke is Friday, May 22.
You should come.

Rethinking Manifestation

This masterclass explores how these patterns shape reality creation in real time.

We explore how your thoughts, emotional patterns, nervous system, beliefs, identity, and attention influence the decisions you make, the opportunities you notice, the risks you take, and the life you create.

Because manifestation is already happening.

The question is whether you’re participating in it consciously.

My next Rethinking Manifestation Masterclass is Thursday, June 4.

Your brain will recreate familiar stress before it allows unfamiliar safety.

The beautiful part is that brains can learn.

So can nervous systems.

So can you.
